Off the Hill, a 2025-2026 exhibition at Fitchburg State University, is an offshoot of the Facing Fitchburg portfolio, which you may be familiar with. Both share the notion that an individual CAN make a difference. My goal is to shine a light on those who do so that others might join them.
Happily transplanted to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, I travel my world intentionally without a camera. When I meet an intriguing person, I ask questions to learn their stories and possibly write about them. My challenge is to make each person a colorful character in their own story, a hero in their own legend. Still far from a camera, I envision a photograph that is unique to them and sparks curiosity, encouraging viewers to read their profile. That is where viewers get the specifics. Then I do whatever it takes to make that image tangible.
